Welcome to the World and Writings of Carolyn Lee Boyd

Goddess In a Teapot is the cyber doorway to the “world and writings of Carolyn Lee Boyd.” I write about women’s spirituality and creativity, and if you go to the Blog Post page, you will find many, many posts on aspects of that topic.
You might be wondering about the name of this site. “Goddess,” a term I use here to mean the sacred in women and our lives, is in the teapot because teapots are both everyday, useful objects, and also have many spiritual and creative meanings — they are transformational, turning water and plants into something completely different; they bring together earth (tea leaves), air (their whistles), fire (heat) and water; they nurture and nourish us; they are that which women gather around to form families and communities.
This site is the first of a circle of websites that, together, make up my “house” in cyberspace where I hope you will feel at home. Here is where I hope you will come into my “kitchen,” sit down at the table, and have tea and a chat. Here you will find all my latest blog posts, news about my writing, and some tea recipes. Tell me (and other readers) about how you express your spirituality and creativity in everyday life in Chit-Chat.
When you are done here, you can go to some of the other “rooms” of my “home” and read past blog posts and published stories and articles on different themes. To read about creativity and some pieces about creative women of the past and present, go to my “library,” The Muse’s Cave. To find out more about spirituality and goddesses and myths, visit my “Sanctuary Within.” To enjoy nature writings and seasonal celebrations, step outside into my “garden,” The Grove of the Queen Pine. Finally, to bring creativity, spirituality, and a love of the Earth together to honor the past, create a better future, and celebrate those who are making that future happen now, step into my “attic,” Circle of Generations. Each place has opportunities for you to add in your stories and ideas and I hope you will!
All these sites are places for women to come together to talk about and celebrate the many ways in which we experience the sacred and express our creativity in our everyday lives. Most of us have “to do” lists that are so long that it is so easy to go through each day just doing what we need to do and forgetting that every day is full of miracles. The illumination of the sunrise, the noise of our families, the solidness of gravity’s pull against our muscles, the spicy taste of cinnamon and cloves, the joy and pride of creating poems or paintings or knitted scarves or gardens or educated children or businesses or whatever we make – these and thousands of other daily gifts are all divine and worthy of gratitude.
We so often forget that we, also, are sacred and have important things to say. We are each worthy of respect and being listened to and cared for. Each woman has her own unique wisdom that only she knows and that needs to be shared through art, crafts, or other works or it will be lost to all of us. Each of us has been given her life experience so that she may pass on what she has learned and help others in their own journeys. We each have our own destined job to do on this earth, but we have been given one another to help us through each day.
For now, sit down, have a cup of tea, and let’s chat!

NEWS
7/01/09 I always thought I would love to have a messageboard here to discuss women, spirituality, and creativity and now there is one! Well, it isn’t really here, but it is on my author page at Amazon. I have posted a question for discussion and I invite you to go and post a response or ask your own questions! To get there, click here.
My novel, The Temple of the Subway Goddess, has just been published by Lulu.com. To download a free copy or to purchase a paper copy, click here. To find out lots more about it, go here.
A wonderful review of The Temple of the Subway Goddess has just been published in Medusa Coils. Donna Henes, Beate Sigreddaughter, and Olivia Lynn have posted lovely reviews at the Amazon site, too. Thank you!
If you would like to read two of my latest online pieces, “The Wisdom of the Silent Sunset,” has just appeared in Mused: The BellaOnline Literary Review and you can read it if give a little click here! Another piece, “It’s Time for Women to Take Flight,” is now online at Moondance and you can find it here. Just a little note, due to a layout error in the Flight piece, the first paragraph is from another column, so start reading at the second paragraph!

I love it, Carolyn! The whole symbolism of the teapot — what a great name. Sort of makes me think of the Japanese tea ceremony…
Take care,
Diane

I love the picture of the mauve sink—I have a turquoise sink that inspired a 1950′d pink and turquoise kitchen. Happy blogging!
Thanks! That is my actual kitchen. It is supposed to be 1930s style since that is when the house was last really renovated and so all the cabinets, etc. (but not the sink), are actually from that time. Your turquoise and pink kitchen must be charming!
